David Placek
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Placek is the Founder & Chief Executive Officer of BDP Holdings. He is an experienced real estate investor and developer with more than 20 years experience investing in more than $4.0 billion of real estate throughout the United States. Mr. Placek’s expertise and experience includes the acquisition and development of millions of square feet of commercial property and over 30,000 units of residential property including developing, investing, financing and rehabilitating mixed-use, retail, office, industrial and multifamily properties in more than 30 states. He also has substantial experience with properties having environmental concerns or complicated legal and tax issues or structures.
Mr. Placek’s experience includes leading Shopoff Realty Investments’ east coast development platform as well as the national commercial investment platform. Prior to his tenure at Shopoff Realty Investments, Mr. Placek was a Director with DRA Advisors, LLC – a national leader in real estate investing. While at DRA Advisors, Mr. Placek sourced and managed investments throughout the United States, and also served as chairman of the company’s Valuation Committee. Mr. Placek started his career at Ernst & Young, working in the firm’s Irvine, California; Sydney, Australia; and New York City offices. Mr. Placek, his wife and three children reside in Montclair, New Jersey and is very active in educational and art related initiatives within the community.
Mike Marmis
President & Principal
Mr. Marmis is the president of BDP Holdings and is involved in all aspects of the company’s development and investment activity. Mr. Marmis brings over 20 years’ experience in commercial real estate development, finance and investments, having completed over $2.0 billion in real estate debt and equity transactions in multiple asset classes across the United States.
Prior to joining BDP Holdings, Mr. Marmis was the Managing Director of YAM Capital, a private commercial real estate debt strategy that he created at the family office of GoDaddy and PXG Golf Clubs founder, Bob Parsons. He successfully completed over $1.5 billion in private debt fundings during his 10-year tenure at YAM Capital. Mr. Marmis’ previous experience includes
serving as COO of United Companies, a real estate development company in Phoenix, Arizona. His development projects included over 200 multifamily units, over 50,000 square feet of office, and site plan approval of a 50-acre mixed use site in Mesa, Arizona that included over 400,000 square feet of office/medical office, 100,000 square feet of retail, a 200-room resort hotel and 180 residential units. Mr. Marmis also served in various private banking positions, most recently as the head of the Private Bank for U.S. Bank in Arizona, where he managed the bank’s high net worth clients. Mr. Marmis began his real estate career as a commercial lender with Bank of America’s CMBS group.
Mr. Marmis received his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from the University of Arizona and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. Marmis, his wife and three children reside in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mr. Marmis previously served on the Make-a-Wish Arizona Board of Directors, as well as other health care and arts boards.
Dennis Lim
Principal & Head of Acquisitions and Asset Management
Mr. Lim is a Principal of BDP Holdings and oversees the company’s acquisitions and asset management. He has over 12 years of experience in property acquisitions, dispositions, financing and management in multiple product types including multi-family, retail, office, industrial, redevelopment and mixed-use properties. During this time, Mr. Lim has worked on over $2.5 billion of transactions totaling 11 million square feet of property.
Prior to BDP Holdings, Mr. Lim served as a Vice President of Shopoff Realty Investments, in the Commercial Property Division and oversaw acquisitions and asset management. During his tenure at Shopoff Realty Investments, Mr. Lim helped grow the Commercial portfolio from its infancy to $325 million in valuation based on total capitalization. Prior to Shopoff Realty Investments, Mr. Lim served as an Acquisitions Manager for The Bascom Group, LLC, a real estate private equity company with over $3 billion in assets under management. At the Bascom Group, LLC, Mr. Lim worked on acquisitions nationwide totaling $1.5 billion.
Mr. Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.
